Hi, I'm Jared.
I'm currently the Lead Game Designer & Producer for Paradise Wars at Phat Loot Studios
I have been in the industry for 6 years creating Indie titles and participating in game jams. My core values as a game designer are consistency and communication.
As a game designer and producer I believe to be an effective communicator in a team its crucial to understand the perspective of other roles at a intermediate level, so I started my career as an indie game developer, contributing to every part of the development process.
My design style has developed over time but one thing has always stayed consistent, I see games as a way to create unique experience and defy expectations.
I believe games are a way of expression for a unique user experience that no other form of art can achieve. I enjoy creating experiences that subvert user expectations and leave a memorable moment with players.

Paradise Wars is a deck building auto-battler about building a composition of units and equipment to execute unique strategies against other players for victory.
As the lead game designer my main focus is on creating an engaging skill expressive auto-battler while retaining a cohesive overall vison. I also have a heavy focus on team management and documentation as the producer.

Suspicious Downpour is my most successful game so far.
With 94% Positive from 313 user reviews on steam.
The game is a short comedy puzzle game that is designed to subvert expectations.
Working alongside Hamish Oliver and Fatherbeno, Suspicious Downpour was created for the 2021 Aotearoa Game Jam and was further developed into a Steam title

Door9 was created in 48 hours for the 2022 Aotearoa Jam and was awarded the: People's Choice Award, being the highest rated game from the game jam.
I saw this game as a way to push my limits when it comes to immersion with a heavy focus on the atmosphere and utilization of Unreal Engine 5's Lumen functionality.

Contractually Bound was created in the 2021 GMTK Jam and placed #98th out of 5814 entries.
Contractually Bound is an escape room puzzle game about finding and breaking contracts tied to game mechanics hidden throughout an office complex before its too late.
With this jam my goal was to learn more about the 3d modeling and art pipeline by creating all art assets from scratch.

Stick Spartans 2 is the follow-up release to Stick Spartans, My first published Steam game. The Development of this game has given me grounded knowledge of the fundamentals for multiplayer networking.
Stick Spartans 2 is an online multiplayer stick based PvP combat game where players play as Spartans cubes and punch each other with sticks.
